Goals

My ACTIVE GOALS

Hero's journey.

Game loops.

Domains of play.

Rational game design.

Wicked problems.

Toy-play and goal-play.

Gamer hierarchy of needs.

We've got a lot of ideas like these floating around in our discourse.

I'm researching if and how we might implement them in a game.

My passion for gamedev always goes back to how games bridge disciplines. However, it's also why I love VR, because I see it inviting even more disciplines!

I'm using my Rift and Touch to do for VR what I believe my first team game accomplished on Mobile: develop games that capsize on what's unique about the platform. I feel my Capstone has my back on Vive.

Games

My TOP 3 GAMES

//LBP

Being able to not just make my visions but play millions of others' visions. Also got me intrigued on a narrative level about games that break the fourth wall about creator/player roles.

//OKAMI

Reinterpreting ideas outside games (Asian folklore/astrology) by capitalizing on their elements that yield a game (the painting mechanic uniting Japanese calligraphy with the protagonist wolf's tail, or recontextualizing combat with moves characteristic of how a wolf would fight). This was what kept me passionate while working on For the Family.

//TWEWY

Making use not so much of a topic out in the world like Okami but the hardware of its target platform. It's what I see in mobile and VR titles. Its combat requires (shown here) the management of both screens, banking on the two sets of controls Nintendo DS could afford simultaneously with and without touch.
